As part of its local community support program, Adlington-based Proseal has donated £2 million, to be shared equally between the building of the Christie Cancer Centre at Macclesfield General Hospital and East Cheshire Hospice for the care of people with life-limiting illnesses, in U.K.

The new Christie Cancer Centre, scheduled to open in summer 2021, will provide cancer care closer to home for more than 1,500 new patients each year, bringing together essential cancer services into one purpose-built unit. It will offer local specialist access to radiotherapy, curative and palliative chemotherapy, holistic support and outpatient services as well as delivering support and information services.

The cancer center will also run early phase clinical trials enabling patients to access new treatments as they become available. The donation to East Cheshire Hospice will help it to further extend its outreach projects and palliative care service, providing specialist medical treatment and holistic care for local people coping with life limiting illnesses, while continuing to deliver compassionate support and counselling for carers and relatives.

Proseal designs and manufactures high quality food packaging machinery for the food industry. Since its inception in 1998, the company has grown into a global market leader, currently employing over 350 people in the U.K. and nearly 500 worldwide. In 2018, Proseal won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
