The global track-and-trace solutions market, valued at US$6.20 billion in 2024, stood at US$6.96 billion in 2025 and is projected to advance at a CAGR of 12.0% from 2025 to 2030, culminating in a forecasted valuation of US$12.27 billion by the end of the period, MarketsandMarkets reports.

“This is attributed to stringent regulatory requirements and rising concerns over product authenticity. Increasing mandates by governments and international bodies for serialization, aggregation, and real-time tracking — particularly in the pharmaceutical, food, and consumer goods sectors — are pushing companies to adopt advanced track-and-trace technologies,” MarketsandMarkets notes.

At Packaging Strategies, we report regularly on track-and-trace solutions. In this article, we present some of the most intriguing stories that surfaced in 2025. From pharmaceutical packaging to foodservice packaging to the shipment of perishable goods, track-and-trace technology plays a critical role, as the following stories illustrate.

Deitz Co.’s Pharmafill BCV1 Bottomless Conveyor Helps with FDA Compliance

The Pharmafill BCV1 Bottomless Conveyor from packaging machinery manufacturer Deitz Co. enables food, pharmaceutical and dietary supplement manufacturers to comply with FDA lot traceability requirements without adding labels, staff, or compromising packaging line throughput.

An aid in compliance with 21 CFR 111 and 21 CFR 117, which comprises the Food Traceability Rule, the BCV1 Bottomless Conveyor automatically captures plastic, glass, and metal bottles from a conveyor, suspends them between dual hugger belts, and moves them above a printer. Lot traceability codes, QR codes, bar codes and other serialization data are automatically printed or laser marked on the bottle bottoms without slowing the line speed, diverting or rotating the bottles, or involving any staff.

Reelables announced a new addition to its line of smart shipping labels. The Reelables 5G Cellular Label for temperature monitoring is giving logistics providers, cargo forwarders, manufacturers, and retailers reliable, temperature-controlled visibility at scale at a per piece level to trace each perishable shipment through the supply chain.

The Reelables new 5G Cellular Label accurately measures temperature from -10 to 60 degrees Celsius with pharma grade, +/- 0.5C accuracy, and automatically transmits data to an easy-to-use app or the user management system via API system-generated alerts to proactively avoid spoilage, and fulfill FDA, federal and state compliance requirements.
