Miami-based Oceanica Crab Meat appoints branding agency

October 1, 2015

Oceanica, a premium brand belonging to America’s largest crab meat company Blue Star Foods, unveils its newly designed packaging, from The CLIP Group (theclipgroup.com) branding and design agency. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, Blue Star Foods is an international company that produces crab meat in production facilities all over the world.

After designing several retail and foodservice brands including their flagship brand, CEO John Keeler commissioned The CLIP Group to create a brand for their gourmet crab range Oceanica. The CLIP Group specialise in branding, design and packaging design and work with a number of food and drink clients. The CLIP Group have developed a unique branding and design process which integrates three core mechanisms: Vision TM, Logic TM and Emotion TM. Vision empowers them to identify their client’s aspirations, logic which gives them the power to implement any project efficiently, competently and within budget. Lastly emotion which allows them to embed brands into minds using the human psyche.

The CLIP Group’s thorough branding process for Oceanica was based on the client’s vision and objectives, current market conditions and foodservice client’s demands. The client ultimately required a brand that emphasized the premium and gourmet quality of the crab product. Some aspects of the brand were predefined such as the name Oceanica and the packaging nets therefore the designers had to take these limitations into consideration throughout the process.

This Atlantic partnership between The CLIP Group and Blue Star Foods has continued to stay strong as both companies have created systems which ensure seamless communication over long distances and time zones. Regardless of time differences The CLIP Group were able to turnaround any changes for the client within hours which the client was extremely pleased with.

“The client required branding and packaging for a premium product that was focused towards mainly independent restaurants. To have so much creative freedom for a foodservice product was a great opportunity for us to be pioneering. We needed to ensure the colours, typography and the feel of the brand and packaging was high end whilst also ensuring that the key messages of the product were also portrayed. We had to create a visual brand with enough impact to engage with foodservice clients.” says Anish Mistry, creative director at The CLIP Group . “When working with international clients we always factor in time zone differences, use specific technology to stay in touch, embrace cultural diversity and I find patience really helps. We work with a number of partners which benefit our international clients including European food labelling experts and language translators based across the world. Creating a premium brand for the foodservice industry was incredibly rewarding and Blue Star Foods were very impressed with the outcome and have commissioned further design, branding and packaging work.”

Blue Star Foods CEO John Keeler says, “I have worked with The CLIP Group for a number of years on a handful of projects. The team are very professional, easy to work with and they cater to our every requirement. The CLIP Group are very talented; they have a very creative British flair and always provide faultless designs. They are experts when it comes to design, branding and packaging for the food industry and I am looking forward to working with them on some exciting international projects very shortly.”

With a combined experience of 25 years The CLIP Group specialise in working with food and drink clients by helping them with branding, packaging design including EU Regulation No 1169 and strategic PR and marketing to help establish or relaunch brands and product, gain listing and sales.
