The glass container industry’s key indicators in North America remained generally stable between 2017 and 2018, with continued opportunities for growth in 2019 in the spirits, food and craft beverages markets.

Ardagh Group, Glass – North America announced that three of its customers were awarded Clear Choice Awards by the Glass Packaging Institute (GPI).

Historic, family owned distillery WH Palmer released its Palmers 44 gin with newly rejuvenated packaging to celebrate 200 years of distilling. The refined design, by Nude Brand Creation, was inspired by the elegance of the 1920s.

A new, lightweighted glass bottle with unique embossing designed for Cider Lubelski—the most popular Polish cider from brand owner AMBRA S.A.—was created by Ardagh Group and the Spiritus Movens Design Studio in Poland. 

Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond series, by Heaven Hill Distillery, is just out in a new ornate decanter package bound to delight history buffs and whiskey aficionados. The bottlings will be released each spring and fall for the next five years.

Berlin Packaging with Bruni Glass has acquired H. Erben Ltd., an England-based supplier of closures, packaging and packaging equipment with strength in the food and drinks sectors. Erben brings operations in South Africa, in California with its California Capsules business, and operates TheBottleJarStore.co.uk for convenience quantities.

Moving to upgrade the image of its premium Farm-Crafted Potato Vodka, Beattie’s Distillery of Alliston, Ontario,  Can. is refreshing its packaging with a bold new look. To help create the look, it called upon Saxco Canada, worldwide packaging specialists for the wine, spirits, beer and food industries.

Numerous processors of drinkable yogurts, other ready-to-drink (RTD) dairy beverages and RTD nondairy beverages rely on blow-molded bottles for their products. In many cases, these bottles are produced elsewhere and delivered to the processing facilities.

The year 2017 saw a number of developments in products and changes in consumer attitudes that prompted the design of inventive packaging designed to meet emerging needs.
