Nearly 70 percent of respondents perceived an increased role for packaging in brand building over the last two years that is likely to continue or even accelerate.
When it comes to trends in packaging design, respondents put forward a host of suggestions. Sustainability and the use of recycled materials in packaging emerges as the most-mentioned trend in packaging design, with more than half of the respondents citing it as a leading trend.
When asked what types of packaging materials their companies used, paperboard/corrugated was mentioned most frequently with an average percent share of 39 percent.
